# Creating and editing entries

An entry is one item of content, such as an article, product, or page. Use the entry editor to fill in fields, add files, manage translations, and decide when content is ready to publish.

## Create an entry

1. Open **Entries** from your workspace sidebar.
2. Select a content bucket, then a content type.
3. Create an entry and complete the fields shown in the editor.
4. Fill in required fields and save your entry as a **draft** while you're working.

The content type defines the available fields. For example, an article might have a title, body, and cover image. Optional fields can be left empty; your content type may provide defaults.

If you can't create an entry, check your [workspace role](/docs/platform/roles-and-permissions). Viewers have read-only access.

## Edit and save changes

Open an entry from the list to see its editor. You can update field values, change the status, add or remove locales, and manage tags.

Save after making changes. If someone else saves a newer version first, Viresso asks you to reload the entry before trying again. Review the latest content before reapplying your changes so you don't overwrite a teammate's work.

## Draft or published?

| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| **Draft** | Your team can see and edit the entry in Viresso. It is excluded from published API listings and public API detail requests. |
| **Published** | The entry is available through the content API to your connected websites and apps. |

Use draft while writing and reviewing. When the content is ready, choose published and save. Your website's integration determines how quickly it picks up the change.

An entry has one status for all of its locales. Review every enabled language version before publishing.

## Add files and translations

Use an attachment field to select files from your workspace. The same file can be used in several entries. See [Managing files](/docs/content/files) for uploads and file details.

Use the locale control to add another language version. Each locale has its own field values, while the entry's status and content type stay shared. See [Localization](/docs/content/localization).

## Organize with tags

Tags are free-form labels that help your team organize entries. Add or update them in the entry editor. Choose consistent tag names so related content is easy to recognize.

## Discuss an entry

Use comments on an entry to discuss changes with teammates. Comments support replies so a conversation stays with the content it refers to.

## Duplicate an entry

Open the entry's menu and choose the duplicate action. The copy starts as a draft with the same field values and tags. Update its content before publishing it as a new entry.

## Delete an entry

Delete an entry only when your team no longer needs it. Deletion permanently removes the entry and its stored field values.

> Some relation and attachment fields can be configured to delete related entries or files as well. If you're unsure how a field is configured, check with an Editor or Administrator before deleting the entry.

## Connect entries to your website

Your developer can read and manage entries through the [Entries API](/docs/api/entries), and an Administrator can configure webhooks to notify integrations when content changes.

API integrations identify entries using a unique text ID called a ULID. You don't need to manage those IDs to write or publish content in the editor.
